Is it possible to export a file from CD X6 for use in DraWings X3?
If so, what would be the best export file format to use?

Corel DRAWings X3 includes CorelDRAW X3.
You don't need to export from CorelDRAW X6, you can save CDR files to CorelDRAW X3 CDR file format version. That CDR file format can then be opened in Corel DRAWings X3.
