I am having trouble with machinists who are unable to use my .dwg files. If I could export to .iges or .stp my pool of machinists grows significantly. Anyone know how I can accomplish this?
Thanks
Oscar
Hello blkfld; If a machinist can't open a CAD file I would be afraid to use them anyway. But you could try a PDF and see if they can work with that.

Most are having difficulty opening a DWG file. PDF wouldn't be a 3D file. I would rather export a digital file than printing blue prints out for someone to manually input into the machine leading to errors.
You can export 3D Solids to .SAT (ACIS 3D) file format. The command isn't that visible as it doesn't have a menu entry in CorelCAD: Type EXPORTSAT in the command window and you're requested to select the solid geometries you want to export to a single sat file.
Most 3D CAD readers can load ACIS SAT as well as STEP or IGES.
Best regards,Klaus.
What about DXF in ASCII? You can "save as" DXF and they should be able to read that OK.
Also, they can convert themselves - Draftsight is basically a free version of ARES Commander, which is what CorelCAD is powered by, so it's effectively the same application with some functionality to design removed. But it allows saving in all formats. If you're using CorelCAD, it makes sense for anyone who needs to look at your files to use Draftsight.
