I am having trouble opening a CDR in CorelCAD , anything with a curve wont extrude? can anyone help me with this?
Have a look at this post in a previous discussion - ExplodeX may help to convert splines from CDR files into something that can be extruded to generate a 3D solid.
Here's a more detailed description of the suggested steps for creating 3D solid geometries from 2D curve sketches in CorelDRAW...based on a sample provided by Tony. Thanks Tony for the sample CorelDRAW file!
In the attached .DWG file we have reproduced the steps required to extrude the object. You will find the individual steps saved as individual layers (0-3).The original CorelDRAW file contains Bezier curves. When importing the CDR in CorelCAD, those combined Bezier curves are displayed as individual (4) b-spline objects. As mentioned in the other discussion thread in the forum, b-splines cannot be extruded to 3D solids in some cases.
The easiest way to get to base shapes for extrusions is to convert the b-splines to polylines. That can be achieved with the EXPLODEX command. Select a precision value of 5 (or lower if you need a more accurate representation of the curve).
The resulting polylines can be extruded using the EXTRUDE command. In the sample file we have specified a height of 10 (for all 4 polylines).
Finally, you need to subtract the inner solids from the outer (main) body to get to the final 3D solid geometry.
