Hi all,
Is there any tutorial on Print Imposition? that also shows how to customize it for many pages
Hi there,
crikey, you don't want much do you? It's a big subject and one tute wouldn't really be enough. A wiki here'd be pretty cool though. On the other hand Foster's right, I can't see anyone spending that much time on such a thing for nothing... unless after some research you fancy creating one. So, if you do feel like it, I can suggest you begin here...
Imposition.... First off and rule number one is that if you're getting a job done at a print shop, chat with the person who is printing the job. They'll know how they want to impose the thing in the most cost-effective way for them. Really simple. Pretty much always, the printer will prefer to do their own laydowns. Sorry to sound like it's an arcane thing, it's not, but it's a sound way to work. They know all their favourite trims and gutters - it's their job after all. Make friends with your printer and listen to him/her.
Next up, if you really want to learn about it, don't just search on the internet for 'print imposition'. The major searches you need to look at are 'Sheetwise', 'Work-and-turn', and 'Work-and-Tumble' (feel free to step in with more suggestions if anyone is reading this). Heaps of info out there and as you read it all you'll see why each job can need a different way of imposing it. It's all down to using the paper stock with least waste :o)
Thirdly, after the internet searches, it's back to the printer that you've made friends with. They will very likely teach you all you want to know, freely and with enthusiasm. Just don't forget that another printer may well have a completely different way of working that suits their presses.
Take a look here:

There's even a Wiki page here:

See? Lots out there.
Give my best to the printer you make friends with and have fun learning. I'll look forward to reading your wiki too :o)
