HI all, I am a novice and learning corel draw and wondered if anyone can help me? I love the program but have got a little issue....
TTF fonts are fine. However I have installed some Open Type Fonts that I want to use. Only I cant seem to use. They work fine in MS Word so I know the font is not corrupt or anything but it does not work in Coreldraw X3.
Am I doing something wrong? Or do I need to upgrade to a newer version of Coreldraw?
Any help/advice would be hugely appreciated.
Many thanks!
Hello Jamiefoster; Are you using Font Nav. to load your fonts for Corel?
George
Hi George,
Im not using Font Nav - is this something I have to do? and where in Coreldraw is it?
Thanks for your help,
Cheers,
Jamie.
X3 is older and does not support all open type features. Do not remember but I think OTFs can be used to limited extent but not the specific features in X3. You may have to upgrade to X6 the latest version that supports OTFs and its certain functions.

Hi Anand,
I dont seem to be able to load any OTF's (let alone the specific features).
I was hoping there would be a fix but guess I may have to take a chance and upgrade to X6 and keep fingers crossed that works?
I still use X3 and I have plenty of Open Type fonts installed. Are the fonts installed in your Windows/ Fonts folder? If so they should work fine in any version of Corel Draw.
Hello jamiefoster; I have X6 but use TTF they are Very dependable, OTF's not all of them work for me in Windows 7 64 bit. Some do but not all, so I stick with what works for me.
Then that's weired. You should be able to install and use OTFs. You may not be able to use the OTF features as they are not supported in X3 but basic use should be possible. AFAIR I used OTFs in X3 but not the features.

There is one service pack for X3 at ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/CorelDRAWGraphicsSuiteX3/ though I've no idea whether it has any bearing on opentype support.
What version of windows are you using? And where did you obtain the opentype fonts?
