I have recently upgraded to CD 2018 from CD 11.
I have a price sheet that I created in CorelDraw 9 originally, and linked the prices from a worksheet I created in Excel 2003. So,when I updated the pricing, it would update the CorelDraw file.
CorelDraw 2018 can open those files easily and the link works correctly for editing. However, I'm in the process of creating a new price sheet and everytime I try to "Paste Special" into CorelDraw 2018, I can see the table appear for about 5 seconds and then CorelDraw crashes. So I'm thinking it might be a version incompatibility? I really don't use Excel that much as I prefer Libre Calc for spreadsheet work (that's why I still have Excel 2003) but Corel only sees Microsoft Excel for linking.
Ok, now that I've had a little more time, I did some searching and found this. Not that this explains why I can't paste new content, but when I open a file that already has a link that works I should be able to do the following steps. But when I select the linked object and click object>links, nothing happens.
So I found out by searching some older help files that I was using the wrong procedure to paste. The following worked for me. However, none of the instructions above in my previous post work "To modify a linked object", even though I can modify the object with a right-click "Modify Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object>Edit". I can then use Excel to change what I need to, re-copy the range of cells I want and then use the procedure below to update.
1 Click Edit, Paste Special.
2 Click on Paste, not Paste Linked. (Very important step - this was why CD kept crashing on me)
3 Make sure Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet is highlighted.
4 Click OK
