Ok, here is the dealio,
OS: Win10
Processor: I-7 (8700) 3.2ghz
RAM: 32 G
Video Card: Radeon RX570 4gb
Issue: Coreldraw 2018 Continuously crashes
Ok here we go, I am finally goin to ask some professionals for some assistance. We have this nice desktop computer and it is very frustrating that Corel draw does this (crashes evrytime". Can anyone please help us.
What happens is when we are going to create a new anything, and we choose the font. after selecting the font, it crashes abruptly, it could be as simple as changing the font color from "CMYK" to "RGB" and as soon as we select "RGB" BOOM, crashes. I have tried to reset the "Font Manager" application, to no avail, I have tried to reset Corel draw by using the same process, holding down the "F8" key, all that does is reset the workspace to "factory Settings". I have tried to remove all excess fonts from the System default location, "Windows\fonts".
Needless to say none of that has worked. I would like to think that Corel Draw is a Great program, (don't get me wrong I know it is... BUTT). why is it that difficult to work with different fonts with this ROBUST program that only has a minimum system requirements of (and I quote directly from there page) "It requires at least an Intel Core i3 or AMD Athlon 64 CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 1GB of hard disk space. You also need a system with a minimum screen resolution of 1,280 by 720". Anyone with basic PC knowledge can tell you that you are going to need a WHOLE lot more then that to run this program.
It is almost frustrating enough to uninstall this program that cost quite a bit of money, and install a competitors program, then go picket outside of this company's place of business for a refund of the money paid for "Coreldraw graphics suite 2018". Please do not recommend upgrading to Coreldraw 2020. That would be a terrible idea, considering we haven't been using 2018 for that long.
I apologize for being a little bit harsh, but it is frustrating to have to work with this daily. and it crashing.
My question is, What do I do to prevent this from occurring time and time again, daily? Can anyone help Us? Please, any ideas would be fantastic.
Thank You in advance for your assistance.
The next thing I would try is re-building the font library, both in terms of what is loaded directly into the operating system and also in terms of any folders of fonts the CorelDRAW Font Manager is loading.Font files are far from equal from one font file to the next. They differ in quality and also differ in ways how they can affect a computer. "Free" fonts from sites like Dafont can have technical problems. CorelDRAW and its Font Manager also don't seem to do so well with picture fonts; they're really good at hanging up a computer system when scrolling through a large font list.I would try uninstalling as many fonts out of the Windows OS as possible. Then start from scratch with assembling any sort of font collection folder that is monitored by Corel Font Manager. There's a good chance some errant font is the source of the trouble. Also, CorelDRAW 2018 doesn't fully support Variable Fonts (only the basic instance will load). SVG Color Fonts are also incompatible with CorelDRAW.
Thank You very much for your reply. I will certainly try those recommendations, and I will try to stay away from "SVG Color fonts". We shall keep you posted.
SVG Color Fonts, also known as OpenType-SVG, are not yet supported by CorelDRAW. You can install such fonts into MacOSX or Windows directly just as you would install any OTF. But the new font format will work with only a limited number of graphics applications. Web browser support is also limited but evolving.
Sounds like you may have a bad font. Unfortunately the font settings in Draw need to be changed to make the system respond better. I turn off the use font for the display in the drop down and only activate installed and system fonts. This of course means that you use the font manager like a stand alone font manager but when I've done this on every system since X8 it's been alot better.
Now the kicker is that CorelDRAW sometimes just won't work on systemsvusing ANYTHING AMD. Don't know why but you see it everywhere I talk to a pro videographer out of Florida, he's a big youtuber, can't get some stuff to run right with AMD. It takes months to get some systems stable and still some software just has issues.
I on the other had have an AMD laptop for my wife that runs 2018 with no issues.
AMD's single core performance vs that of Intel is one issue and CorelDRAW performance is another issue why I'm hesitant to buy an AMD-based notebook or desktop system. But my judgment is evolving. The long term outlook for CorelDRAW looks cloudy. AMD sure is breathing down Intel's neck very fiercely. I can't believe Intel is still trying to milk what ever it can out of the 14 nanometer process. AMD has blown way past them in that regard. AMD appears to be eating Intel's lunch on multi-core performance too. Add the wrinkle of Apple shifting to its own in-house designed ARM CPUs. Unless Intel surprises us with some monumental leaps in CPU design and power very soon Intel is going to be in for very tough times going in to 2021 and 2022. For now all Intel can seem to do is issue very lame press releases about their old CPU technology when AMD or Apple makes some kind of big announcement.
In my opinion Apple performance is a joke be it their Xeon systems or the AMD. You can get a much better computer but you rarely can pay more money. AMD certainly is pressing the envelope but regularly watching Linus Tech and JChristina I'm waiting for AMD to solve what is clearly their driver issues.
