Hey all,
So, I've used CorelDraw 2018 for a year without issue. It works for me and it's easy to use. Well, all of a sudden I can't open most of my saved .dxf files. I get an "Unrecoverable Error" and it won't allow me to open my files that I saved. I've contacted support and they said that the 2018 version is too old to open newer .dxf files. I didn't have this issue a week ago and now all of a sudden I'm not able to open my own files. They pretty much told me that I'm SOL and to buy the newest version. What's the point of spending $500 for this to possibly happen again? I own this version so I should be able to use it to its fullest capability. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks.
I would suggest that you upload a sample dxf file for others to try. Please zip it up. If too large for here, upload it to dropbox or the like and provide a download link.
Thanks for the reply. I edited my post to reflect that it isn't only recent files it can't open. It's just about all of my .dxf files. Here's a dropbox link: www.dropbox.com/.../Leaf trivet.dxf
If the screen shot below taken in CD 2018 is correct, there would seem to be something wrong as to your installation.
Maybe running a Repair from Windows' Add/Remove panel may work?
I repaired it like you said but to no avail. I don't know why it would open as it should on your end but not mine. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I don't know why, either.
As a work-around, Inkscape opens that dxf.
That may get you up and going. Once imported, you will likely need to resize. The line weight will at first seem way off. Clicking on the Line properties will reset it. Once in, export it out as a file type that does work in your CD installation.Oh, one more thing. It might be that import filters are not registered correctly. I don't know if this works for CD, but it does for a couple other applications I use. That is, start CD as an Administrator. If that then works, you should be able to exit CD then restart without as an Administrator.
