Issues with permissions and sharing?

My company just recently updated (saying "upgraded" would imply that what i have now is better) and now whenever I save a file regardless of if I created it or not it will remove the permissions for the other designers that I work with. In order to let them access the file to change or separate the file I must manually go in to the file properties and add "everyone" in the security tab. I have contacted Corel support about this and for the past 2 weeks they haven't given me anything that has worked so I figured I would open it up to the community to see if anyone has any ideas.

Potential fixes corel has given me:

1. It is some sort of "network issue"

-My networking seems to be working fine. The only program that does this is CorelDRAW 2019. Saving things in CorelDRAW 2017 works fine still and my co-workers can open the files.

2. Make sure you are saving it in the correct folder and make sure permissions are shared with everyone

-Felt a little insulted by this one honestly

3. Run the CorelDRAW as admin

-Doing this will result in an error "there was a problem sending the command to the program" and my files wont open.

4. Then I got this....

-"I am sorry to let you know that if you have not run the application as admin you are facing this issue with your operating system since your OS would have been damaged please contact your local technician for the inspection of stability of your OS."

After I told them that it still isn't working they had me run WinAudit and moved me on to "Level 2 support" where I pretty much have had to start all over...

TLDR: Saving a file in CorelDRAW 2019 removes "everyone" from my permissions and wont let anyone else on my network open my files. I am open to any suggestions if any one has ideas on what could be the problem.

  • I don’t find much interest in digging through these useless forums, the way it forks conversation is well, useless.

    Agree strongly!

The framework they are using may be OK for cutesy social-media-type content, but far inferior to an "old school" forum format when it comes to actually finding technical information. Even when you know that a particular piece of information is there, it might be hidden behind a bunch of "Load Next" and "Load Previous" clicks. Kill me.

There's a lot to be said for the ability to see a thread in a flat, chronological format.

  • 2020 is a 20% service pack for 2019.

Yes, for me, the new FX features drive my use of it.

Among other bugs/poor behaviors my biggest complaint is the refresh issues, mainly with the object manager. It drives me crazy when you have a tool selected and then select another object and it doesn’t move the focus to the newly selected object, instead you need to refresh it manually, even worse is when it gets so confused and doesn’t release the previously selected object, I have found that when it does this selecting the pic tool and clicking the objects again will release the stuck selections. It’s like so in your face that I would have guessed a fix for it by now, either they can’t figure out how to fix it without major work, or it’s not important.

    So true...

The previous forum was so much better.

  • The previous forum was so much better.

Near the end, the performance of the previous forum had gotten really bad. I don't know if that reflected bad quality software, or problems associated with maintenance and upkeep of the software, server, etc.

I don't manage anything like that myself, but I suspect that there are some solid solutions available that can provide a traditional forum experience for desktop/laptop users, while also accommodating tablet and phone users.

I have a number of macros that create new shapes. Even though the macros invoke a "Refresh" after creating the content, the Objects docker in 2019 and 2020 does not update - at least, not at that time - to show the newly-created content.

Eventually, some other action will cause the Objects docker to show the new objects.

    Not cool at all!
