Does anyone know how to avoid this warning popping up when I import certain CorelDraw files into another CorelDraw document?
Open the file and copy and paste the content should work.
Unfortunately that's not an option David.
jayppegolf; I sent up a few more files for you I managed to see this, the font embedding is placing 22 embedded fonts with your files. download (graphictechnology.com)
That's too many and even 1 embedded font can cause issues, the test files has 2 ads in it that have issues with the fonts, this file is converted to curves. I'd take a close look at the files construction.
Your files also contain (when viewed in the object styles docker) 32 styles that are not only causing you the problem but have near zero benefit. These are most likely compounding when you import.
I would follow the instructions that were posted here by someone else and restore all the styles back to default. You can just delete them but it's time consuming using the docker.
I replaced the .cdds file from one of your files with a standard CorelDRAW CDR file .cdds and it opened.
What I suggest is that you get the .cdss file and save a copy and as you get breaks replace them all in your files and turn of font embedding, things should improve for you.
Morning David, hope date night went well.
I've now updated the .cdds file in my 'master template' that I use to create new artwork and also turned off the option to 'embed fonts' when saving. This should help going forward. It's a huge job to change all of my existing artwork so may have to pass on that one but at least all new stuff going forward should benefit. (approx. 950 files that are currently 'live')
Could you expand on your comment about the file construction please? What are the 'issues' you describe?
In all honesty, the four page files that we create are not a problem for us. We create a PDF from them which turns all fonts to objects by default and we then revert to a PDF work flow to print from. So as soon as the PDF is created these files become redundant.
If the newly created files help with speed going forward I'm all for it though.
Whilst we have identified a few efficiencies that will help with future work we do appear to have gone a little off piste from the original question regarding warning box that pops up when importing certain files!!
Thanks as ever for your insight and help.
Looking at you files, and believe me I've seen tens of thousands, they look good, judging from the time you told me it takes to execute placement into your templates there's not any real performance improvement that's going really justify any significant time expenditure. Unfortunately you don't know what's happening until you dicesect the entire process.
The styles issues is because you have 32 styles in your ad files, when you import the files there's the conflict compounds. Keep a clean template and remove unneeded styles in the ad files will keep it smooth. I don't think you'll see more than a 15% speed increase.
Thanks for all your help David! I'll leave you in peace now....until the next time!
No problem, it was good to see some decent file construction for a change and to see the styles in play in a real world environment again.
Styles are a good feature but Corel needs to augment the users ability to control them.
