I have been using Corel for more than 17 years; first time I have this problem (running Vista Office, Professional): All brush functions are affected: When I left click to anchor the brush, the cursor jumps diagonally up and the line is drawn from this new position to where the brush is currently. See pic. The cursor was at A when I left clicked the mouse, then jumped to B and simultaneously draw the stroke to A.
I reloaded Corel entirely, but problem persists.
Any help?
Hi all,
I got the same problem. Cursor jumps diagonaly to bottom right. And it jumps the same "screen distantion". Means, jump did not depends of zoom, tool etc.
My system: Dell Inspiron 1526, USB mouse (but trackpad does the same), Windows Vista Home edition, X3.
Looks like a problem with Vista drivers...
What are your hardware ?
Yes this is exactly my problem. I Work on a Acere TravelMate 6291 with wide screen (i e 9 by 16 format), screen . Iresolution, 1280 by 800. I use Vista professional.
Regards
Bertie
I just sent an email over at corel.com with a link to this thread. Finally I was able to get it to go through. Unfortunately, due to the weekend, I probably won't get any response until next Tues or Wed. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
Thanks so much. I was too occupied with other business this week to pay attention to the problem. I emphasise once again that I have used Corel since 1991, I think it was version 1.15 or such and have never had this serious disfuncionality. If this cannot be rectified I will need to switch from Corel to other software after a 17 year relationship with the company and its software.
Add Corel X4 w/SP1 to this list with all the above symptoms. Running Vista 64bit w/SP1, 22" wide screen (1680x1050), Nvidia Gforce 7600GT. Additionally, thought this may not be an issue, I use a wireless Logitech mouse (have tried several different mice). Not exactly sure at what point this got broken but worked fine when Corel X4 originally installed. This problem has arrisen very recently. Have tried F8 workspace reset, complete uninstall and reinstall. Something is stepping on a driver somewhere... just don't know how to find out which one nor how to fix it. I did install and uninstall Macromedia Flash 8 Pro on this machine. Did uninstall/reinstall of Corel after Macromedia was uninstalled. Have use several registry cleaners but as we all know, there is still Macromedia left in the registry.
Corel X3 w/SP1,2 &3 running WITHOUT problems on my WinXP (32bit) w/SP3 machine, 19" no wide screen, nvidia Gforce5200GT. I have installed and uninstalled Macromedia Flash 8 Pro, installed Adobe Flash CS3 Pro. Have not install Adobe Flash CS3 on vista box..
Hoping someone will post a solution.. Seems Corel isn't acknowledgeing the problem
PS - I too have been a loyal Corel user since ver. 1 first release.
I'm running Corel 12 on a machine with XP Professional, have been for about 2 years. I don't use this program often but I have a project I've been working on for the last few days and I've just run across the cursor jumping issue today while using Photopaint. It's kind of sporadic, sometimes it happens...sometimes it doesn't...
I would wonder if it is related to a Windows update if it's happened with several people only in the past few weeks.
Has anyone received word from Corel yet?
Curt
No, reply from Corel yet.
I was finally able to get an email to go through to Corel. Unfortunately, this is on another email account and I didn't get to reading it for awhile. I had given them a link to this thread so they could read about the problem for themselves. The response looked like something generated automatically. It had links to articles in their database which had the similar words in the titles, but they were all completely useless. None addressed the issue we are having.
Therefore, I submitted a second email letting them know about the first question and that their reply did not address it. I provided a little more info in the email this time instead of counting on them reading the link.
Here is the reply:

So, now it is telephone time. I am wondering if this is going to cost money to talk to someone about this problem. Any ideas?
Hi,I havent had the problem myself, but one thing came to my mind: have you installed the SP1 ?(service pack).Copy & paste this link in the browser: coreldraw.com/files/folders/trials/entry27051.aspx
I would suggest that one of us residing in the US should phone in. I am in South Africa, and apart from the time difference, our telcomms is really expensive, unless I can get a skype address for Corel to phone into.
Who in this threaed resides in the US and is willing to do the phoning?
Mind, you I am quite sure that this will not be resolved over the phone. A corel programmer would have to actually have to see a mirror view.
Hi Stefan, yes I did install Serice Pack 1. We really have exhausted all possibilities.
Rgds
I found My problem.... Most of us are running large or widescreen monitors at high screen resolutions. To compensate for the resulting "Very" small screen print, we have set the Screen Font Size DPI to large, 120 dpi or higher... If I set my screen DPI back to the default "96 DPI" all is well in PhotoPaint.
Steps for Vista:
1-Right Click desktop
2- Select Personalize
3- Left Side of screen under "TASKS" select "Adjust Font Size DPI"
4- Set to Default.
5- Reboot for change to take affect.
This is Not the fix. Corel has a problem and they need to fix it.
Hope this helps everyone untill Corel recognizes they have a problem... This will probably fix both X3 and X4.....
