[H] Doing artistic text vertically how do you do it?

I am posting this question for someone and I think it's a great question to see what other people are doing to accomplish this task.

"I wish to do artistic text vertically and aside from typing each letter and then pressing enter after each character although I assume there is an easier way although I can't seem to figure it out."

  • Michael Cervantes has a good VBA Macro for do this:

btw, I have my own way or fo it:

    • Ariel, I like your way of doing it!

The nice thing about replacing the character with the hard return is that it spaces the text better.  Then you can break the text apart, fine tune spacing and center it.

    • Here's one way to do it...

      1. Using Artistic text type your text.

      2. Select the text with the Pick tool an rotate it  -90 degrees

      3. Switch back to the Text tool and open the Character docker. Highlight your text, and then change the Character Shift to 90 degrees.

      4. The spacing won't be quite right, so select the text with the Shape tool and pull the small kerning arrow to the right until it's spaced as you like.

      5. Not centered? We can fix that too!  Select text with the Pick tool and Break Apart (CTRL+K). Select all the text again (drag a selection box around it) and then press C to align the centers (or go to Arrange>Align & Distrubute>Align Centers Vertically).

Some of the spacing between the letters still may be off, but since you have broken the text apart you can adjust as needed.
