Greetings!
I received CG X4 and today installed it. The DVD contained version 14.0.0.701 and assume that I need to install updates. I have downloaded the SP1, SP2 and HF2 EXEs.
In each case, the install begins "Searching for products to update" and then terminates saying "Your update was not installed. The upgrade cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade my update a different version of the program."
Perhaps this clue is related: When CorelDraw and Corel Photo-Paint loads, the welcome screens are blank. The tabs, when clicked on, move between the left and right sides. There are two checkboxes at the bottom with no text:
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
DG
UPDATE:
I now understand that 14.0.0.701 contains SP2 and another reboot allowed the HF2 install to proceed.
However, the dialog issue illustrated above remains.
Foster, thank you for your reply.
Per your advice, I executed the F8 procedure and replied "Yes" to "...overwrite the current workspace with the factory default" dialog, but also, it seems to have had no effect.
One must be quick on the draw since CorelDraw loads so quickly. Perhaps the speed might be a clue. I am just using a basic laptop with a Core 2 T5550 processor. I wonder if something is not getting loaded correctly. In the meantime, I am going to execute a reinstall and see if that affects this.
Thanks
Addendum: I have completed a "Repair" on my installation and it did not have an effect on the 'Welcome Screen.' It continues to appear as illustrated above.
Have seent his once before. Was a complete mystery how it is being caused.
We solved it back then by updating the drivers of your graphic card. Hope it works for you aswell.
I just checked on the Toshiba web site and verified that the drivers for my computer are the latest that are available.
Is there anything on that screen that I need and in that one situation, where there any other ramifications that I may need to be aware of? If it is only the opening screen that is affected, I can live with that.
