Printing labels. X4

Bit stuck here guys and wonder if anyone can help.

Have created a customised label equivalent to Avery L6008 - very small labels 7 across and 27 labels down.  Prints perfectly.  However, I would like to be able to vary the design and print different labels across the 7 columns.  Either at the creation stage - use the template and select which column is utilised or at the printing stage restrict the printing to 1 column only.  Does this make sense?

These are for some Geocaching buddies who want their own name on the labels and a full sheet of 189 labels is too much.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

  • Hello Jillybaby; You cloud print "Selected Only" if that helps with what you are asking.

  • So, you have presumably designed just one page, and that page is therefore printing to every label position on the printed page.

But lets suppose you have 6 people to print labels for.

    • Open your existing design and move everything except the person's name to the master layer.
    • Add another 5 pages. The first page will have the original name and the rest will initially have no names at all.
    • Copy the original name to clipboard and paste it to the other 5 pages, making sure it goes on a page layer and not the master layer.
    • Edit the names on all 6 pages

Now, go to print preview, select your label sheet and look at the imposition layout.

Because you now have more than one page, you will no longer fill the sheet, but will see the 6 pages occupying the first six pages (and the rest blank).

You can change this though ... for example:

Note that I have mapped the 6 pages to various labels. Just type the desired page number over whatever is in the centre. You can have as few or as many copies of each page as you need.

Now go back to the pick tool and you will see exactly what will print:

You don't have to print every label either -- just delete the page number from the imposition layout to leave a label blank.
