Blur Plugins

I have a problem blurring text in CorelDraw:

1.  I put text on page.

2.  With the text selected, I go to "Bitmaps", then "Convert to Bitmap".

3.  Next I go to "Bitmaps", then "Blur" (which is highlighted), then I try to select one of the nine blur options, they are there but not highlighted, therefore I can't select them.

Help says to download the blur plugins.  I have searched my software disks from X3 and X4 and can't find these plugins.  Can't find them on my harddrive either.

Can someone please help me.

Thanks in advance.

  • You shouldn't have to install anything for those filters to work, as far as i can tell you're doing everything right. The only recommendation i can think of is to make sure its converting it to a bitmap by trying to change its colour or something like that. If it is in fact converting it to a bitmap and the filters aren't available to choose from i don't really know what else to try. Maybe someone else will have another suggestion, i'm sorry i couldn't be more help. If nobody answers you within a few days you might want to try tech support. Anyway, good luck.

    Peace

    • Thanks for the reply and help ... I feel really foolish now ... I was shooting myself in the foot.  Probably didn't select the item before trying to blur.  Kinda like looking for my glasses when they are on me.  Thanks again, Don

      • Happens to all of us from time to time. Glad you figured out your problem.

        • I was trying to blur some black text.  The problem occured when I converted the text to bitmap.  When I converted the vector to bitmap, I selected "Black & White (1-bit).  I found out I couldn't use the "black & White (1-bit), 16 colors (4-bit), or Paletted (8-bit) choices and be able to "Blur" the text.  The "Blur" functions only worked when I converted the vector to bitmap using the other three choices which are Greyscale (8-bit), RGB Color (24-bit), and CMYK Color (32-bit).  Thanks again for your kind response.

          •  This is the sort of thing that writers of help files never think to tell you, that you have to learn by going around in crazy circles.

You'll find a similar distinction in PhotoPaint: some things can be done to RGB files that can't to Palletted 8-Bit, and vice versa.
