Hi all. I haven't been around much since the sign shop closed last october. I do have a bit of freelance work now and then. I purchased a new lap top in the spring. Haven't really used it because I am intimidated by Windows 8. But my husband just got laid off so now I REALLY need freelance work. I want to get coreldraw x6 but I don't know how to know 32bit or 64 bit because I am totally clueless to what that even means. i now have x4. I had x5 briefly at the sign shop but absolutely hated it. I think i read somewhere that on my new computer i can't use x4. Any help greatly appreciated.
THANKS in advance
Lisa
George, I downloaded the trial version for my home computer, Win7 pro i7 16MB RAM. Wasn't too bad but I don't have all the macros I have on my work pc. My shop purchased 3 copies and so far we've only loaded it on one workstation.Yeah it's a little faster but still feels like a reinvention of the wheel. You have to teach yourself all over again! One person needed a certain feature so they threw that in too. Just like cars, they come out with a new model and after few years when they get the kinks worked out they replace it with a new model and back to square one.
p.s. I'm having a bad day

Same happens with X5, even with the Service pack. And the same stories are about X6. And X4 or X3 too. If you use those stories as comparison, you never use X5
Sorry I haven't been back here for a while. Things got crazy with my husband being laid off.
Anyways, this is my new computer

So I'm assuming it's fine to get the 64 bit version of x6 ??
i have some design work to do. Quite nervous because i'm afraid of windows 8
And am I correct that I can't use my x4 with windows 8??
Thanks
I have both versions of Corel Draw 4 and on a modern computer the 64 bit works much faster than the 32 bit version on just about every command, I have to say i have a 8 core processer and 16 GB ram which can make a huge difference in speed plus i have all the program files on a SSD drive along with the temp folder all which speed up any intensive processing work.
I think it is only when doing graphics or video work that i ever see my CPU anywere neer the 100% mark.
regards Poppy Ann.
Inj,
Download the 30 day trial (x7) and try it yourself, that is free. Windows 8 just makes you think again and that could be a good thing<G> I would think win8 is 64bit and that gives you a lot more speed.
I have x7 64bit on win 7. Works very well for me.
