Wow my horse no longer can pull my car! [;)]
Some need to stop being so damn cheap. In the U.S. we used to take care of those who couldn't take care of themselves, now we keep increasing the excuses for taking care of those who WON"T take care of themselves.
This is just someone who wants a free operating systems and another company to support their bad choice.
Make a good choice, keep an old OS and your old software or pony up the bucks.
Ripcord there's a lot of old hardware floating around, (speaking from a U.S. perspective) and if you have a good XP disk download the updates and install on a stand alone system. I know several people who do that and run V12 X4 or what ever. Great software and a great OS within the parameters of their work flow.
We have two Windows 7 systems that run RIPS, the RIP provider wants the systems to have internet access for support but they will not update the RIPs to work with new Windows 7 updates so I won't let the systems have internet access. This is $9,000 software so if there's a reason to be pissed I feel I have a legitimate one, but the RIP provider does not care and will not keep up with the changes with Windows.
Copied this from a website: been looking for this myself.
"Another option is to install a virtual version of the old operating system of your choice on your computer. This allows you to create a file version of the old operating system within a file on your current one. This is different than dual-booting a computer, where the user installs two operating systems on the same hard drive by dividing it.
The advantage here is the ability to run a program in the operating system that it was designed for in the first place. VirtualBox and VMWare are some of the more common options available and is accessible for Windows, Mac and Linux users. (Mac users can also use Boot Camp and Parallels.) The process is similar to installing Windows Virtual PC. Download it, accept the license agreements and get started."
As a hobby project, maybe, I did see that some one on the forum claimed to have it running.
From a U.S. business point of view it does not take long to burn away $500 in labor so a free Windows 10 and a bit of hardware makes sense.
I had a 6 year old work station die recently, I replaced it with Windows 10 Pro, work flow is high end image editing, wide/grand format printing and all design and creation aspects of large signs projects and donor walls.
Tool box includes.
The work horse CorelDRAW X8
Image editing/color correcting work horse Corel Photo-PAINT X8. RAW processing and some image correcting Corel AfterShot Pro 3, Corel PaintShop Pro X8 is a handy tool for those, (why did you use that camera?) images.
Quality of output is state of the art, productivity is vastly superior to Adobe products allowing me to pay living wages to my people and myself!
