Asked just for fun. I think drawing/painting and music belong together.
Here is my list:
for quick and expressive drawings I listen to alternative rock like Blind Age(unknown to the most of you, friends to me), Linkin' Park, 3Doors Down, Alter Bridge, and many more.
for very freaky ideas I listen to Dream Theatre(though I can't stand that only for 1-2 hours...)
for moody titles and chilley works I listen to recreative Ambient&Trance Techno like XERXES, Martin O'Donnel(Soundtrack from HALO2) and several else.
Now let me know yours...

Being an Indian, I don't listen to any of the music discussed here. But I am an Indian oldie and love to hear Kishore Kumar, one of the Indian master singers. And especially I love to listen his emotional solos he sung in 60's, 70's
GREAT ARTISTE, unfortunately no more with us.
Anand, Ive tried Kishore Kumar, and the funny thing is, I could hear his songs the hole day. I am also interessted in more of this music culture!
@ Ariel: If Jean Michel Jarré would do any visual Arts, many of us would be interessted what the Arts would be! What I've ment with the list of Artists: Every Artist use serveral sences and inputs of influence. And music might be important for many of them. But Jarré might be the most listened by many Artists. I could imagine you're listening to Vangelis too, dont you?
Honestly said: I tend to hear even Classics, Operas and Synphonies, or movie soundtracks (Howard Shore for example). There is no way I don't dare to go for the right music in the right moment.

Of course I can. We were'nt Artists if we could not. Ariel: thank you very much for all those YouTube links!
I've watched them, my favorite among these was the powerful voice of Francesca Gagnon - Cirque du Soleil - Alegria.
Fantastic!
I love listening to Pendulum (Good...Drum & Base), Low Rider, Prodigy, Daft Punk, Gem, Dr Dre....I listen to the Radio some time aswell. I listen to Radio 1 on the web....its a English radio station I used to listen to back home.
While im being Creative and also while resting, I like to listen to Robert Rich . Its fantastic Soundscape music. My personal faves are the Trances/Drones CDs and Below Zero. Hes also done a recent album with Ian Boddy entitled React.
Ive found Magnatune to be the best place to listen to and buy Robert Rich's music from :)
I do also love Pendulum, DJ Fresh, Daft Punk and Justice. Anyhing a bit glitchy lol
@ PommyJosh: Now I got it where I know Pendulum from: they're very famous in the UK to, aren't they? Good Party music, in the same sentence named with Daft Punk and The Prodigy of course!
@ Frootloop: I've tasted Robert Rich's music, and suddenly became a fan. Very very good soundscape music! Exactly what my hungry ears like to hear...
