Hello all,
I just stumbled on this forum and it looks like a cool place. I have a question I hope someone can help me with. In Adobe Illustrator if you click control and drag the bezier tool it allows you to change direction of the node without out affecting the other side. Is there a way to do something similiar in CorelDraw??? I love this feature as it allows for some extremely smooth curves.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
Welcome to the forum, its a really helpful place :)
Ok, you can change the way one side of a node affects the opposite by using the Cusp, Smooth and Symetrical controls on the toolbar as highlighted below.
Hope this helps,
Andy
If you mean you want to change direction while drawing with the Bezier Tool, do like this:
After you've placed a node and dragged to create the desired curve on the "other" side of the node, without releasing the mouse button, tap "c" on your keyboard (will change the node to Cusp) and move the node handle (cursor) in any direction or back to the node. Release the mouse button and click where you want the next node.If you want a straight line instead, skip "c" and simply double-click the last node and then click to place the next.
An additional tip is to use the Pen tool instead. It works pretty much the same way as the Bezier tool (wonder why they don't merge them into one), but you get a "preview" by default. The "c" trick is exactly the same but if you want a perfectly straight line as next segment, double-click won't work (starts a new curve instead). In that case you have to press and hold the Alt key (after placing and dragging the node), and click the node again.
Personally, I prefer the Pen tool actually.
Thanks everyone for the great tips. I believe that solved my problem. The "C" click was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks soooo much!
