Hey guys, new here but long time Corel Draw user. I started with Corel 4. Not sure what your guy's applications are, but I use Corel for my Laser Engraving business.
Anyway, I recently bought a new Mac laptop and I love it. When Im out of town I can update and play around with my website, etc... But I stink at Photoshop and Illustrator and just feels weird to me. I rummaged through my old discs and found Corel 11 and was able to install it on my Mac, but Id really like to have X4 on there for some of the newer features I use..
anyone know of a way to install on Mac without bootcamp or parallels? Any word on maybe X5 being Mac or anything like this?
it seems like development on Windows is enough of a nightmare, let alone making it all work on OsX equally as well. i don't think Corel needs to worry about the Mac market anyway. what Corel does need to do is put greater effort into file compatibility between AI and DRAW. if this could be accomplished then a lot of the frustration of dealing with the Adobe-centric graphics world would be relieved.

I don't agree with you. Mac is a small part of the market (less to 5%, according with apple.com) but is specially dedicated to Graphic Design. Most of the Mac are used for design and most of the publicity agencies uses Mac. Now, on Mac there's only one opton: Adobe. Years ago, you can choose between Freehand, CorelDRAW or Adobe; no, there's no alternative to Adobe.
So, Corel must think about it. It's one of the reason because most designers don't trust in CorelDRAW, and some companies don't use Corel. The greatest problem is the marketng
FosterCoburn said:. I doubt Corel will develop X5 for the Mac due to the high cost and the low sales of previous Mac versions. But, you never know.
The last version for Mac, CorelDRAW 11, was the same for Windows and Mac. How can Corel knows how many are installed in Mac? Or if many companies have installed the same in Windows and Mac? The problem is the relation "cost of development / sales", if it's too expensive to create a native version for Mac. But I believe it's necessary to develop a new Mac version, but a native version, not a copy of the Windows version.

No way I know of...a clever tech guy might be able to get it working... some combination of hardware and software modification. Our tech guy said he modified a MAC somehow to make it boot Windows. I doubt it'd be worth it though.
Probably easier and more cost effective to use BootCamp, Parallels, or VMWare.
I've used CorelDRAW since Version 2 and currently use X3 on a BootCamp-XP driven MacBook Pro 17" as well as other Macs using BootCamp... works great.
Use X4 on an iMac using the latest BootCamp designed for Leopard and VISTA Home Basic. I put off using VISTA until SP1 came out and a lot of the issues with the new OS got solved.
It's no big deal to switch back and forth between OS's... not that I use MAC software much anyway.
Does Macbook Pro 17" with windows (BOOTCAMP) and corel installed run well?
Someone with this experience can say something about?
Thank you very much
