Hey guys,
I am having problems when trying to paste text from Microsoft word. the pasted text becomes unreadable / corrupted. Well here is my situation, I have a large number of text that I'm trying to insert into Corel Draw X4.
and if I convert the word document to PDF, I receive the same thing. I tried importing the text as image, worked but can't edit the text nor the text is in good quality (quality is very poor, cannot be used for plot)
Any suggestions would be great guys. I am using Microsoft Vista x64 / Arabic enabled (can type just about everything in MS Word/Excel etc...)
By the way, I can type the text in corel, and it works great, but I have some 200 pages, so you get the idea! it's hard work for me to type all the 200 pages :(
Thanks guys for all your support
Hello,
I am not sure what exact issue you are seeing. Can you attach sample word document with arabic text so that I can test it.
Couple of points to remember are :
1) CorelDRAW X4 doesn't support opentype features. So some ligatures may be lost during copy-paste. CorelDRAW X6 supports full opentype features.
2) If you cannot directly copy-paste text from word to Draw, try pasting the text from Word to Notepad and from Notepad to Draw.
Hope this helps.
I have no experience in Arabic, but even in English, text from word is always a real pain. It brings in unwanted control characters, styles and formatting that interferes with proper layout functions.
The method I use is to copy text from word to the clipboard, paste it into notepad (which removes all control characters and formatting) and then paste from notepad into a new CorelDraw text frame. With paragraphs its probably convenient to do this one paragraph at a time.
The result is clean, editable and reformattable text, but it also loses any effects such as bold and italic so you have to reapply them. Nevertheless, it is a hundred times faster and safer to reapply the effects than to try to work round microsoft's embedded garbage.
I've no idea whether Arabic text would survive the journey through notepad, but if it does then I think it might solve your problem.
Thank you for your reply, I have attached a word document containing some text I would like to insert into CorelDraw X4
Seems to be working fine on my system See attached file, I copy-pasted text directly from your word file in CorelDRAW X4.
However, I had to change line spacing as copy paste messed up the line spacing.
After seeing your attached file, what a surprise! although there are some corruptions in the test. can it be fixed? as an example look at the first two words...they don't match up at all..text should be Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE AR-SA
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE AR-SA
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
and
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
but I'm going to test it on X6 as soon as I purchase it. thank you so much for your help
