I am going crazy trying to figure this out. Can someone tell me why the corners on these two objects are different? The one on the left I drew with the Pen tool the one on the right is an imported EMF. the Outline properties are identical, but I can't get rid of the sharp point.
If I leave the corners sharp when I add an 1/4" outside Contour it looks like it has tail feathers. Like this:
Not exactly the look for a 1/4" seam allowance. What am I missing here?

Using CDX6 32 bit version with latest update.
My first guess...The emf file is a file converted to an object with outlines and the adjustments made are to small to see. Try zooming in 10000% or so and see if there are line cap changes.
Other than that, would need the file posted.
Hmmm, I did mention a bug here a couple of months ago relating to mitres.

So, might be worth retesting with X6.4 in case they've fixed it since.
[Edit]
It's not fixed, even in X6.4. But the workround suggested by Jason Moore (change the node to cusp) should solve it.
I've attached a .cdr file with an example of an .emf which was exported from my quilting software. It is grouped objects when imported. I have done nothing other than resize it to 6.00".
I have been exporting and importing from this software into CorelDRAW for many years. As you can see from the file, the quilting software exports a nice clean set of outline objects with no fill. Usually all I need to do is resize and change the outline properties. I don't remember the corner styles not responding like this before.
I read the other thread -- thanks for that Harry! Maybe there is some kind of bug.
BTW, changing the corner nodes to cusp is not an option as these are all straight line shapes. I did find me a workaround for now. If I use the Create Boundary first, then I can get a nice clean 0.25 inch contour.
I have had that same issue and had to round off the corners on certain nodes. To make the contour to work properly, a new box needs to be used, and not the group of objects as before.
Have a look at this new file, the red box is a contour applied to a box on top of the group of objects.

Mike,That's sort of what I mentioned doing as a workaround. Instead I used CreateBoundary (Arrange>Shaping>Boundary). And then used that to create my contour.
