Asymmetrical transparencies

A little situation currently bugging me: I want to make a transparency asymmetrical, namely rectangular, not symmetrical (square). But the only options offered by CDraw are symmetrical, as in squares or circles (radials). I applied a square transparency to the checkered background (but not the oval foreground) in the attached image and indeed got the shape of a square, but that's not what I was after—the result is much more transparent left and right than it is top and bottom. Any ideas on custom shaping transparencies?

  • I don't know if there is a way to accomplish what you wish in X6 - but I will comment that X7 replaced "square" gradient transparency with "rectangular".
    • I don't know if this is what you are trying to do but here's what I do a lot. I would take that checkerboard pattern and edit to make a transparency. Select the transparency tool and draw the direction you want on the first side. Then click on the pick tool. Now go back to the transparency tool and draw on another side the desired transparency then click on the pick tool again. Keep repeating this process until you have the desired effect on all four sides. This is what works for me.
