I have X4 installed on my PC (Windows 7 Ultimate)
Today I installed today (for the 1st time) a trial version of X6 to see if the Export feature had been improved, it has been, I looked to see how much to upgrade when I noticed X7 is now available.
I uninstalled X6 and installed 32bit version of X7, when I 1st click on the Corel Icon I get the Splash box, but it the goes away after “Installing user interface” and then nothing
If I click on it again I get a Error 38 message about reinstall etc. (which I have done a number of times)
Corel License Validation Service is stopped and if I manually start it, it stops again as soon as I try to start Corel.
My X4 still works.
Is there a solution?
If you right click on a CDR file and select "open with", what program shows as default ?
Not sure, I have uninstalled X7 to carry on with my trial of X6, which works ok.
Not sure how file association effects the running of the Corel Licence Validation Service?
The licence validation service is probably a red herring. It only needs to run on demand, so if it has a startup type of "automatic" it will stop and start as required.
Ok, just reinstalled X7 Trial using the serial no give to me by Corel (Trial) and checked File Association, Default is X7
On 1st run it ask for name & email to register the does nothing, click to run again and get Error 38
Now when I run X6 I get the same Error 38?

I'm not sure what you mean by that.
Trial versions do not (usually) have a serial number. The serial number is to convert a trial to a full-working version. If you have not bought a full version of X7 then the serial number that you have is probably for a previous version. But if you put a previous version serial number into X6, I would expect that to give you a more specific error message asking you to re-enter a serial number.
