I've spent a lot of time getting my workspace where I like it in X6. When I export it the only available format is to a .xslt file. However, when I try to imort it into X7, I get this message "Valid workspace file not found at the path specified".
The X7 import shows the ability to select .cdws, .xslt, .cwf and .cfg formats, but it will not import the .xslt from X6.
Help would be very appreciated.

Anna, I share your frustration. I once spent a couple of hours creating the workspace that works for me. I was thinking like you are, but some of the posts made me realize: You can't apply a workspace from x6 to x7 if things are rearranged in x7 and if x7 has things in it that x6 "never knew about." That just can't work.
I think the answer to your question is you can import, but only into the same version. This is certainly useful if you have to do a reinstall, or to copy your work workspace to home (if the Corel license still allows you to instlall at home). Hope this makes sense.
I don't have x7 at this point, but I thought if I do I'd keep x5 (what I have now) to look at while I create new workspaces in x7.
Hello AudubonCreek; X7 is a totally NEW program, and importing any of that type of stuff from older ver. is going to give you problems. ( Bite the bullet and build new.)

for a completely new product it surprisingly has most if not ALL of the bugs of the workspace customization tools...
Although I know it is not recommended to import shortcuts from previous versions, I did it from X4 to X5, and from X5 to X6 without any problem.
However, for the X7 version was necessary to make everything from scratch. For those who use many customized items (like myself) it is always a pain to rebuild everything. Yes, I saved all my customizations in a folder apart, but I was happier when I could import everything in one step. (IMO).
I am amused by the folks who are defending Corel's position and even more amused by those who are chastising me for not supporting it. Rather than invest in a few programming hours, Corel has chosen to shift the burden to hundreds of users. It's not that it can't be done. They have chosen not to do it using "new" as an excuse.
Another example of Corel's attitude toward the customer is the failure to include a default revision level for saving files. Folks who work in a group have a serious need to continue to save file in an older revision to maintain compatiblity with the group. One simple field could be added to the Options file with default revision for saving. Instead, it's necessary to do a "Save as" and choose the revision number EVERY time you save a file.
Corel employs many very talented programmers. It's a shame that they do not have respect for the customers who use the software in a busy production environment.
Both of these things can be done. They just don't want to invest the resources and prefer to *** the burden to the customer.
