Does X7 now allow us to make multiple selections within a group? Does it allow for any other new editing features which can now be used on group members, such as transparency editing, or the measurement tool? This is the one thing that puts me off Corel--not being able to tweak or edit individual items or groups of items within a group. Also not being able to use the knife tool once an image has been sized/scaled.
Hoping to hear this has been changed since my X5...:-)...???

Thanks Sharon!
Yes--that's exactly what I had in mind. In X5 you can only CTRL+select one object in a group. If you hold shift and select another object in the group, the previous object gets deselected....:-(.... Are you also saying that one cannot multiple select within a group which is itself within a (larger) group? I do a lot of work with letters, so I will often have, for example, the letters spelling a word grouped together. But within the word group, an individual letter could be comprised of several strokes, so the strokes of the letter would itself be a specific-letter group. If I wanted to move, say, three strokes of a letter grouping which is itself in a word grouping, I would have to ungroup the letter strokes, remove it from the word group, make my changes, and then make the groups over again, including having to name them again. If I remember my forums correctly, I believe this is not a problem in Illustrator.....
An other thing that really bothers me is that I cannot edit e.g., transparency on an object which has dimensions made with the Dimension tool. I have to delete the dimension, do the editing and then redo the dimensioning.
And the knife tool. I regularly want to do some slicing when my image has already been scaled to fit the page.....
I wonder if Illustrator is missing any of my much-used Corel functions....:-)...
Thanks Ronny!
I always thought the knife business was very strange. I run into this problem regularly and remain surprised it has not been fixed. I remember foruming about it, but it might have been another forum. It was one of those threads about CorDrw vs. Illustrator......
Hi Janet, Sorry, I should have been more clear. By this I mean that if you have multiple groups grouped together you cannot select a child object from one group and one from the other. Same as when trying to select a child object in one group and another object outside of the group. The behaviour for editing transparency on an object that has a dimension applied has improved in X7. Although it is not possible to interactively edit the transparency, the property bar or Edit Transparency dialog can be used for editing. In X5 the property bar controls were all greyed, however in X7 they are available. Hope this helps, Sharon
