Maybe this is fixed in X8 or 2017?
Took me a while to understand what you meant but in short; you can not use the eyedropper to fill the red square (to the right) because when you try the object on top of it gets filled instead, right? The same thing happens in 2017 too, so I guess you have to use the right drag method instead. By the way, I assume you are aware of the quick way to copy fill and/or outline by dragging? Press Shift while right-dragging to copy the fill, and use Alt to copy the outline, Shift+Alt will copy both.No need to choose from a right click menu.

Ronny I recall you pointing this out on another post or perhaps many. Took me a minute to realize you meant dragging with the right mouse click. I do like this as a better alternative.
I'll just have to fit it in to my many things to remember list.
