Selecting & copying/cutting specific nodes copies/cuts the entire object

I am having an issue in X7 where, when I use the shape tool to select specific nodes within an object and then either copy or cut those nodes, the entire object gets copied/cut, not just the nodes I selected. 

This wasn't always the case—previously, when I selected specific nodes and then cut/copied them, it was only those nodes that were then pasted. 

What changed? How do I revert back to this capability? 

Are there alternative methods for "extracting" (i.e. cutting/copying and then pasting) specific nodes/paths of an object, into an entirely new object?

    For a "mysteriously stopped working" issue...

    1. If I cared about any customization in my current workspace, then I would make sure that I had saved a copy of it first.
    2. Then, I would switch to a default workspace.
    3. Then, restart CorelDRAW holding down F8 to reset it to a clean, fresh default workspace.
    4. See if things work correctly then.
