too many fonts

I pointed font manager to a font folder with 200k fonts, I think it installed them all, I went and uninstalled all of them but Corel x8 lists them in the font drop down of the program

CorelDraw x8 is very slow

what do I need to do to reset or get rid of all the fonts slowing it down

  • Hello Rob: X8 is not meant to install ANY fonts that you have not told it to install. I have a folder with a LOT of fonts in it but they are NOT installed that I use in Corel only. But you can go to where you told CFM to look in for fonts and delete what you don't use.

    • Corel's font engine monitors all fonts in folders that are added in Corel Font Manager.
The fonts are not installed but since they are monitored they can be seen and used from Draw's font list (which in most cases is a useful feature).
Having 200,000 fonts in the list is not very practical though and will slow down font handling in Draw.

What you can do, if you don't want to remove the font folder from the list in CFM, is to check "Installed" in the filter list from the font list dropdown in Draw.
This will make it ignore uninstalled fonts.
      • It would not have automatically installed them but it would monitor them. Restart the font manager and hold the F8 key and reset the database.

        200,000 fonts WOW.

I would open CorelDraw with the F8 key reset to factory defaults and in the font drop down set it to only see installed fonts and system fonts.

        • CorelDRAW X8 allows you to use fonts without install each font.
if you try install 200.000 fonts Windows and your computer will collapse before finish....
        • Hi Again Rob: Other tan filling up your computer, which will SLOW it down the Corel Font Manager should not slow it down. In the sign business we need A LOT of fonts at sometime, mainly to match up what a client wants. The Corel Font Manager by it self is worth the cost of CorelDRAW X8 ( for me ). If you want a FAST computer it is best to build one amed at that. Have Fun using one of the best.

          •  Thanks
resetting the Database with F8 fixed it :)
