CorelDraw X8 has been working fine for 2 years on my Windows 10 MS Surface. A few weeks ago it stopped opening. I click the icon, I see the splash screen, then nothing. No error message, it simply doesn't open. Same thing with PhotoPaint and Font Manager. I looked through the threads and found a similar situation from 1 year ago, where the fix was to download a txt file, rename the extension to .reg and run it. I did so. It didn't work, although now I'm having random system problems on my Surface.
I've tried running the 'repair' process, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the suite. No change.
Corel Support has been very unsupportive during all this.
Any suggestions? I REALLY need to get this working - I can't access any of my CDR files!
Thanks.

I remember that issue. I think that the problem to which you refer was later addressed with a hotfix. Depending on how you reinstalled, you might need the hotfix and/or "Update 1".
Thanks so much! Where do I look for the hot fix? or the updates? As I mentioned, Corel Support has been notably unresponsive on this matter.
The hotfix and Update 1 are available here:
https://www.coreldraw.com/en/support/updates/#cdgs-x8
The reason I wrote, "depending on how you installed" is that doing the installation from the original disk (if you bought the "boxed" product) would not include any updates in it. X8 installation files recently downloaded from Corel could have fixes/updates built into them; I'm not sure of the details of how they are handling that.
In CorelDRAW, you can use Help>About CorelDRAW... to see the build number that your installation reports. That could tell you whether you still need Update 1.
Thank you!
I installed the update 1, then the hotfix, and no change. CorelDraw still doesn't open.
I appreciate your help in this! I guess I'm going to have to camp out on Corel's doorstep until they get it fixed. Most frustrating!
I won't pretend to be a CorelDRAW installation doctor, but I have seen some reports posted here of users who resolved some problems by deleting the Messages folder:
C:\Users\Eskimo\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages
Whatever the solution turns out to be in your case, please come back to let us know how it worked out!
