I have Ver. 12.0.0.536 with SP1 installed running on Dual Xeon with 2Gb ram & XP SP3
When i try to save any file ..opened from anywhere (i mean local or from network ..i am also administrator to local machine!)i got the message "Error Writing to h:\....\....\....\test.cdr
When i try to use the "Save as" it works Fine! ...& then i also can use the "Save".
Any ideas?

When you use "save as", do you have to specify a new name for it to succeed, or can you get away with specifying the name you already opened it under?
If you have to specify a new name, then the behaviour implies either that the operating system thinks your original file is read-only, or that something else has the file open. Often though, you won't be able to find which program it is. Sometimes it will be a ghost process that hasn't completely exited.
Usually the quickest way to fix it is to reboot. It is only worth investigating further if it happens regularly.
From memory it's reboot as you say. There was a PDF issue with 12 as well, occasionally you get an object in a file that stops the conversion process. I remember using 12 and making PDF every page or so or the offending object was too hard to locate.
Really we should be encouraging all you guys to update. X4 SP2 is the service pack you need. After Corel was 'reborn' many things changed. 12 was better than 11 and X3 & X4 development worked through a lot of issue. There has been a lot of solid work done in the past 4 years.

...& why my OS thinks that the original file is read-only ...only at Corel ...& not at other aplications (Acrobat ,Photoshop ,Office 2003 ...& many more...!!!) .
Also with reboot i got the same message ...
