How do i fit text to a circle without the letters/words getting skewed?
I am trying to place lyrics to a song around a circle and the sides look flat, wide, and skewed.
This is what i am getting
change your setting of the text on path orientation, see attachment!
Hi Sandy,
I think draw 12 (which I assume you have) doesn't fit text to the path correctly which has been transformed non-proportionally. So if you have applied some kind of Non-proportional transformations, remove them by going to Arrange>Clear Transformations. And choose such a font which doesn't need to be condensed.
Now in draw X3 and X4 fit text to path is the biggest convenience, you now have much more control over it, you can even select and drag your text any where you want on your path which was previously done only numerically.
Tried to straighten it easily with a preset orientation using Version 12. V12 does not produce the same result for the preset as the same preset in Version X4. (which I think is one of the solutions offered.)
X4 was easy that way with the preset but the character or word spacing would need some adjustment. The vertical orientation to the path was perfect.Just getting the text line the right length before fit to path to begin with would help in those versions like X4
But...
Unless there's a macro available for V12 I think you'd be stuck with breaking the text up in to 4 sections and fitting text to pathmanually with tweaking to get it to look like you want. it to. The important thing would be to get the text length horizontally optimizedas to it's length along the curve when fit to path. Say if you needed a 3" quarter circle, well the straight line horizontal version of that samewould be more like 3.25 - 3.50 inches long in order to come out on the curve length path at 3"
At least this is what I've had to do in the past with Version 12 and earlier. I would calculate the approximate length needed and theneyeball it from there... maybe using a few slanted guidelines to help.
