Some years ago purchased CorelGallery 1,300,000. The vector clipart came in a .CCX format.
However, the Gallery browser no longer loads into my Service Packed Windows XP. Also XP and Vista cannot display .CCX thumbnails in their respective Explorers.
Today I discovered if I change the file type from .CCX to .CMX. the thumnail displays.
My challenge is how to covert about 500,000 files from one to the other en masse.
Any suggestions, please.

It has been a gazillion years since I have done anything DOS. Do you know the command string to remame files?
Does Vista have a DOS thingy?
prior to vista, it was Start | Run and then you could type in "cmd" in the box... I don't have my vista box right in front of me, but there's an equivalent box when you do a "start". But, yes, all of the flavors of Windows have had a command prompt. If memory serves me right, just go to the equivalent of Start | Programs in Vista... then | Acessories | Command Prompt. - just navigate to the folder you want.
Once there, type in: rename *.CCX *.CMX (and then hit return)
Thanks for the help. I just need to learn the navigation commands. Kept getting "can't find specified path" and other such helpful messages. I will get htere though.
Thanks Hunter,
I had the CD bit correct but I hadn't actually been changing to correct drive with the CD .. switch. So of course the machine kept saying "What?"
I have now successfully gotten Vista to see the clipart thumbnails. WooHoo!!
Thanks again
