Hello,
I have used Corel X3 on a XP & Vista machine with the Drawstitch Embrodiery Effect plug-in. However, when I install it on Windows 7, the Embroidery Effect is not showing up in Corel, even thought both programs seemed to install successfully. Does anyone know if this is a Windows 7 problem, or am I missing something?
Thanks,
Geoff
Hi Geoff,
a newer version of that free software replaced it and works as a standalone product only; it works fine in W7. I looked at an old thread regarding this and the link no longer works. I opened the software on my computer and it has a link, but that too took me to a redundant site. Do a search in here and type in Embroidery plugin, or Embroidery effect and see what you can find. I only looked at the one thread, so there may be others with a newer link.
Let us know how you go.
Best regards,Brian.
hi ,
could you tell me please, if E.plugin works the same way fine also for X5 ?
i can use only as separate program (have found no way to joind E.p. and X5)
than, all my vector designs exported to .cmx before importing to DRAWings - Embroidery effect program turn into grey color.
is there any reason for that? i didn´t find another setting to let me change the color.
in some cases the program refuse to import the file, it says "Artwork import failed" / eg. file above 123.cmx
any tips or hinds to solve this problem are very appreciated.
thanks!

I forgot how fun it can be... esp to make funny patches:

h jeff,
may i have an addittional question please?
i wonder , if there is any setting to change the direction of fill in the DRAWings - Embroidery effect program?
i think the setting is only in Corel DRAWings Professional Edition.
sorry, i´m just very curious :-)
best of luck!
Most old time users, even though grateful for the stand alone program, have been forever spoiled by the macro working from right within X3.
Exporting to emf and opening the separate program is a hassle, especially if you need to do it several times to get the bitmap rendering desired.
As I said before, using the internal macro doesn't work properly in X4 and X5.
For me, much like keeping a copy of Corel 7 for it's Drawmate macro, I will always keep a copy of X3 installed.
Jade, FYI, the macro will render the bitmap image with the default settings from DRAWings. Properties such as stitch direction need to be changed within the digitizing software itself.
However some things can be manipulated. The macro, just like DRAWings itself, will convert exactly what it sees, exactly how you present it.
Learning how DRAWings interpreted that information was one of the most fun adventures I've ever experienced.
I've used the program (DRAWings PRO) from almost the first day it was released, I don't know, maybe 7 or 8 years ago.
For example, In the above visual, if you wanted 2016 to render in satin stitches, you would need to present the information at a smaller, more appropriate size. After the rendering the image could then be enlarged.
Likewise for small text that might be converted to run stitches, if you present the macro with a larger example, let it do it's thing, then enlarge the bitmap.........you can get a different look.
The purpose of the conversion macro was to give a quick look at how the default settings of Drawings Embroidery software would behave.
Altering that results, although possible, will sometimes render an output impossible to replicate if you actually needed to produce the file for embroidery.
Hope some of this information is useful
Sorry if I didn't understand your original question. I thought you were trying to use the internal macro not the stand alone version.
