Edit Symbols stored in Local Symbols Library (csl)

You can edit libraries by right click on library in "Symbol Manager" Docker and select "Edit library" from context menu. Then you'll have two ways to edit symbols:
1. If symbol is visible on any layer - then you can right click on it and select "Edit Symbol" from context menu;
2. Or (in case it is not visible) you can select topmost library (with same name as before selected to edit) in "Symbol Manager" and below library list you'll see symbols list that can be edited.

After symbol edit is finished, then you must click on "Finish editing object" at left side from horizontal scroll bar and don't forget to save changes.

Sorry, may be I miss, but in the first sentence (not case way!), I meant "right click on library IN LIST OF LIBRARIES in "Symbol Manager" Docker"... And same I meant in 2nd case way.

Before I'll try to explain how Symbol Libraries work from inside let we assume that Docker "Symbol Manager" (below I'll use abbreviation DSM or SM) is divided in 3 sections:

1. Symbol Preview also contain two little buttons "Add Library" and "Export Library"
2. List of Libraries that contain root nodes of currently opened files and  two main root nodes: "Local Symbols" and "Network Symbols" that may contain subnodes (named as folders on disk) with endnodes of libraries (*.csl files).
3. List of Symbols where symbols is shown if exists.

Now I want to explain where libraries physically is stored on local disk storages or, if case, on network storages. Usually Local Symbols is stored in "C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\Corel\Graphics13\User Symbols\*.csl" on Windows XP or may be other location on your disk (find file "SymbolsPaths.ini" and look inside). For Network Symbols you must add library's folder by click on Add Library button. On the other hand, Symbols is stored onece in the document and just linked many times - this reduces the size of the file.

How to create symbol?

Editing some file, you can select shapes and right click on selection select Symbol>New Symbol and type the name of it then press OK. Symbol is stored in current file and can be used only if that file is open - through copy-paste.

How to create library?

There is many ways to create Symbol Libraries. You can create new document and save it as *.csl format in one of the folders mentioned above, then create symbols as much as you need. Or on the DSM, in the List of Symbols select symbols you want to be exported and click Export Library button, then save your *.csl file in Local Symbols folder (or where you want but be careful).

How to edit symbols?

In DSM in the List of Libraries you must right click on the appropriate library and select Edit Library from the context menu. This should open the library file. But, you may observe that symbols from the List of Symbols is not allowed to be edited! That is Right! Look on List of Libraries section and select at top currently open library (file). Hooray - it can be edited for now! To edit the symbol you may right click on symbol from list and select Edit from context menu or select symbol and press Edit Symbol button under list. When you decide that a symbol is ready, then click on Finish Editing Object button situated on left side from horizontal scroll bar. Do not forget to save the library you are editing. Now you'll see all changes and can use edited symbols from all documents.
