I am trying to simply reverse the image on the attached picture...... Using Corel Painter Essentials 3, is there a way to do this? If I require an upgrade, any suggestions as to what to upgrade too?
In Corel Painter 10 there is a menu option Effects -> Tonal Control -> Negative for reversing color. It's the closest info I can give you, since Painter Essentials is kind of a 'lite' version of the full Painter program you might have those same (or similar) menus.
Essentialscafe.com is the official forums for Painter Essentials, you may find better info there since CDGS is a very different set of programs.
For what you describe, you certainly shouldn't need to buy anything. There are many free image tools that can do this kind of simple operation if for whatever reason your Painter Essentials can't. IrFan Viewer could do it, FastStone Image viewer... there are others that I can't think of the names at the moment. IrFan is probably the simplest, and for just inverting an image would be fine.
Hope it helps
Thank you Andrew.....Any ideas on a program you would recommend for someone that wants to free draw as well as adjust photos?
Well, I don't have enough experience with other programs to really offer advice. I can say what I do know, so for what it's worth...
I've used the CorelDraw Graphic Suite for a long time. Photopaint (comes with the suite) is a very powerful pixel based editor. You can certainly correct photos, and there are brushes etc for drawing. It's also got Draw, which is an awesome vector program. My feeling on Photopaint is mixed. At one time it was my favorite pixel type editor, for the past few versions it's been left behind a little. It's still very powerful.
I've also used Corel Painter 10 a little, but I'm definitely a beginner with it (v11 is the latest). Painter is like no other as far as actual drawing/painting. It's got brushes galore, various paper & surface textures. It's really designed for use with a tablet. It's also got some color correction tools, but I'd say photo correction isn't it's strong point.
Paintshop Pro... I've never used it. Installed it once & could not get used to the interface. Other folks love it. For correcting photos it's probably great, as far as drawing goes I have no idea.
That's all Corel software. I've also used Photoshop, it's also extremely powerful, capable of any photo correction you want and no doubt drawing as well. Premium price though, that's for sure.
There is also GIMP, an open source (free) editor along the lines of Photopaint/Photoshop. I haven't used it for a long time, but it's pretty capable as well. Given the price it's definitely worth a look.
Thank you for your opinion Andrew..... It is much appreciated.
