In designing a circle-based logo, I want to have some artwork in the inner circle portion.
It is 'relatively' easy to do if the artwork is a bitmap using Corel Photo-Paint or the like.
However, I want to do this using a vector graphic for the artwork in the inner circle.
I have found a way to do this but it is not particularly 'elegant' and I am asking the community here if there is a more straightforward way to 'circle mask' a rectangular vector artwork?
I do it by creating a circle on top of the artwork - the circle has a very thick outline so that only the required circle portion of the underlying graphic is visible - export the entire page to an image - create a new document and import the previously saved image - delete the outlying circle boundaries to leave only the circle portion of the artwork you require - then do a trace of this portion and you have a circular mask in vector format (cdr).
Works but, like I said, not that elegant.
place your circle over the area you wish to "capture" then shift select your grouped background image or artwork. At the top of your workspace you'll see icon options, choose Intersect.
Wow, simple and elegant. Been using Corel Draw for a long time but I still don't know all the ins and outs of this software.
Many thanks for this. Will put it to good use.
