I was sent here by a representative of the Corel website as they cannot answer my question about Paintshop Pro. But I do not see this specific software mentioned here. Can anyone elucidate, am I in the correct place? Thank you.
Thanks for the link Ariel. Are you indicating that this site is not suitable for my purpose? Or are you offering this link as an alternative?
Hi David, thank you for your reply & offer.
I have downloaded the trial of X9. I am a photographer with much experience of Lightroom, but none of Photoshop or similar softwares. I have a product shoot, which is outside my usual sphere of photography; the shooting I can do, but the client wants more: I need to isolate the area around the subject(s) in each photograph, replace it with white & then apply a false shadow. I am into my 3rd day of trying to isolate the appropriate area in an image & change it to white, but so far, after about 14 hours of work I have not succeeded. I thought it would be a simple process, but no. The Corel website techs are not at all helpful & I can't find any suitable video tutorials. Also nothing in the manual. I have tried isolating the area from the subject with a path of nodes & then filling, but the fill also affects the subject. I have also tried the opposite; isolating the subject with a path of nodes, then inverting the selection & affecting the inverted negative space with the fill tool, but, in this case, am prompted to change the layer to a raster which then no longer recognises the nodal pathway & the fill affects the whole image, including the subject. I have never worked with such frustrating & counter-intuitive software, though I have been informed that Photoshop works on similar principles. If you could help I would be very grateful.
I'm leaving to do a sign install in a few minutes and won't be back until late today, I'm on Eastern U.S. time where are you in the world? I'll try to coordinate with our office ours. Do you just has PSP or do you also have CorelDRAW and Photo-PAINT?
I use Corel only solutions AfterSAhot Pro 3, PaintShop Pro X9 and CorelDRAW X8.
Did you capture RAW and convert to tif?
Can you explain your work flow a bit so I can understand more of how you're doing what you do.
What color spaces are you working in?
Hi David. I have only downloaded PSPX9 on trial, because it has very good reviews & P-Shop is a rip off. I usually shoot live theatre, dance, etc, so product boxes & associated presentation techniques are new to me. I will capture RAW &, as the images I need to provide will only be used online, the client is content with jpegs. I will shoot directly into LR6. The subjects are small product boxes. Then I process in LR6 before exporting as sRGB jpegs, 300ppcm. Simple....until I need to do the work which I described previously & have sought to accomplish in PSPX9. I am in Spain GMT+1hr. I work my own hours at home.
I had a deley in the delivery of my lift is this the kind of thing your looking for?
No, not quite. Here is an example of how an image will look before I need to apply the white background & false shadow.
Below is the website address of the client I will work for. Most of the images on the site are my work, but previously I was instructed to shoot with a natural shadow. Subsequently they changed their minds some months later & got someone to apply the white backgrounds & false shadows to the images I had originally provided. This time they want me to provide the images in the style currently on the website. (Notice the shadows applied 'under' each product box.) http://www.artiservei.com/packaging-barcelona-en
I just got it and looked at this so you need a silhouette of the base image and a drop shadow of that image flattened onto a white bounding box, correct?
With CorelDRAW it takes on minute to create this effect.
¿De donde eres?
