Has anyone gotten Ventura 8 to run on Windows 7 (Win 7 x64 Professional) reliably?
How about Ventura 10?
Thanks Eric. I have appreciated your VP insight over the years (as a lurker :-)). VP is still the Gold Standard in page layout. Too bad mismanagement has apparently doomed it.
I hope this question is not so poorly worded that it will take us down the wrong path. I upgraded my OS to Windows Vista a few years ago. I don't recall if I had to use these directions. But V10 limped along. I just upgraded the same machine to Windows 7 32-bit. Now, here's the confusing part. My Version 10 is an upgrade, so I've had to reinstall Version 8 each time then install the version 10 upgrade. I installed version 8 today on Win 7 with no issues. I didn't check to see whether it would run (it won't), until I had issues installing version 10. Version 10 install balked, and I found these directions. When the install routine reaches the point of trying to locate the previous version it requires for the upgrade, it simply times out. I'm assuming there's an environment issue or something. Any thoughts on how to proceed? Should I uninstall Version 8 and try the compatibility mode installation, as above?
Upon further investigation, version 8 runs as administrator only.
The V 10 installer no longer times out; it throws an error: "Setup32 has stopped working" - Close Program
I want my VP back! Thanks, John
