Does anyone know how to covert a PDF file to CorelDraw? I have tried saving the PDF as an EPS and then opening it in CorelDraw, but it only displays a grey box which states "Illustrator 7.eps". Any suggestions?
CorelDRAW is terrible at importing PDF, which, by the way, is mostly the same thing as AI (Adobe Illustrator file). First, try importing (Ctrl+i) the PDF into a new document using the PDF filetype. If that doesn't work, try again, changing the "Files of Types" to AI - this will still show you the PDF files! If that doesn't work, you have to convert the file to open it in CorelDRAW... what a pain. The only way I have found to do that is to go to Zamzar (www.zamzar.com), upload the PDF file, then convert it to PS (PostScript). Download the .ps file from them, then import it into corelDRAW using the EPS or PS filter. Then, it should work...

I agree. Ariel , i'm not alone who write about CDR pdf, Ai problems, in last days in other topic some of coreldraw.com user wrote that "CDR works fine here". Dear fanatic CDR users, CDR contain serious bugs and problems. I know some of you not want to recognized this, but this is the reality. If works fine, eps exporting why not was resolved, or Ai or PDF publihing. I meet serious problems with pdf-x3/acrobat 8 publishing at the printer company , but here some of you wrote that pdf-x3/acrobat 8 is without problems.I have an evidence with problems.
I don't think any sensible user here would have mentioned that CorelDRAW works great with PDF imports. If at all any one says that, it must be relative to the file in question. And most probably there will be a note that PDF, PS, PRN, EPS files are not intended to be opened and/or edited in DRAW or any software (Except Acrobat which is meant to work with these files). All these formats are written for printers(hardware) to understand the design and output it. Opening or trying to import these files is a kind of hacking the information which may or may not work.

I find this post was under V11 of CorelDRAW. This version is too old and may not be compitable with the PDF formats that came out after it was released. You may try creating the PDFs with older compatibility but then there is no guarantee it would work as you expect.
Hello Anand; You Are Right the first post is VERY old I Did look at the date on X4's post, I think he is just looking for things to complain about. Oh Well each to his own.

Apparently you're not paying attention. The original poster was complaining about CD11, and a version that old was bound to have problems depending on when/how the pdf was created.
But more importantly, you're assuming the problem lies with the program importing the pdf, and not the program creating the pdf - even though AI has documented problems when specific options are used during save/export. CD has absolutely no control over how other programs are used (not just AI).
So in the end, you haven't proven a thing - except that you really, really don't understand what programs are up against when importing/exporting, and that's true of any program, be it graphics or spreadsheets or Microsoft Word.

[/quote] First of all, I'm suprised that you talk to me on a post on which I didn't answer. CorelDRAW is not a PDF editor like Acrobat. If you want to open a PDF, use Acrobat, Corel PDF Fusion or other similar. When you open a PDF with CorelDRAW, the program will do a convertion, and according the content, not always is fine. But it also happens with Illustrator, the only "safe" PDF that you can be sure to open is a PDF created with Illustrator and saved as "editable PDF". (it's not my point of view only, read Adobe forums: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/881863 / http://printplanet.com/forums/adobe/14831-convert-pdf-illustrator). So, if Illustrator has problem editing their own files, do you expect that CorelDRAW should do a better job? Well, sometimes it happens: qith some PDF, if I open it with Illustrator there're missing links, but CorelDRAW can open it with all the content. Of course, not always is like that.

Obviously, some people only see what they want to see.
It's logical that an old version such as v11.0 will have problems opening PDF created with newest versions of programs.
