File sizes of objects.

Hi all,

I want to find out which objects are slowing my work down the most, but there seems to be nothing in Object properties.

Does anyone know if a file size can be viewed of an Object or Group of Objects, without copying it to a whole separate document and hover or click on the icon on Desktop?

usually the culprit is raster images. When you scale down a raster image the dpi will increase astronomically. These images can be up to 5000 dpi! Best to resample those and then see where your file size ends up when saved.

I try converting my raster drawings from my archive to vector, but for complex art it didn't seem a time saver because I just ended up with a zillion colour & curves which needed an hour to simplify down. Thanks.

If you import an image that use file compression, such as a JPG, you should remember that the file size is 1 Mb for example, when you import it the uncompressed file size could be 10 Mb or 15 Mb according the compress ratio. No mtter if you enlarge or reduce the image on CorelDRAW, the file size will be the same unless you resample or convert to bitmap with a new resolution.
The most common reason for the bigger files are the high resolution bitmaps. You don't need to "trace" it or convert to vector, it's enough to resample. if you want, you can place a file sample here for test. I will take your advice and just resample the odd Bitmap that I use.

You posted under CDGSX3 and older section so I assume you are using X3 or older. I suspect unwanted views and color styles saved with the document. It would add from another file when you copy paste or import another affected document.

Open View Manager docker and delete all saved views. Open color styles docker and delete all saved color styles. Save the file and check the speed. Keep an eye on colors used in the document while deleting colorstyles. The styles if used in the documents will change the object color in the file if deleted from styles docker.

AFAIR CDGSX5.2 removes the colorstyles automatically while opening the file. Please check the update. I think it was second update for X5.
