I wanted to give it a try so I imported the same bitmap I had traced in Trace v12 last week . A large monochrome 1 bit bitmap, lineart drawing.
I selected the bitmap and went to Lineart Trace.
Not only did Draw hang, Windows went unresponsive, and GET THIS
all my open windows got resized and rearranged on both monitors.
Eventually I got control back, but still no preview in the Trace window so I just clicked OK to see what the default Trace would be like.
And I'm still waiting. Draw is using 10Gb of memory..... For a trace that takes 8-10 seconds max in Trace12 a 17 year old application.
I forgot to add, at least it no longer asks to downsize the bitmap.
Still waiting for the trace to appear though.................
Eventually it did complete. Not sure how long it took cos I gave up waiting and went to do something more productive. Certainly longer than 15minutes.
Trace isn't bad either. Couldn't say it is better that Trace12 but then with Trace 12 I can export the bitmap from Draw, load the file, trace it and import the cmx back into Draw in under a minute.
Hywel they have been struggling with Trace since version 11 or 12. For my needs Trace 2020 seems ok but my use is light weight!
It's taking a lot longer to trace everything in 2020 than any previous version and that's without using any of the new features. And to be honest, the results aren't muchbetter than before - if at all. Using the Photorealistic adjustment takes an age, that is unless the program doesn't crash (as it has twice now). Fabulous how slick and easy the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite Tips – AI-powered PowerTRACE video makes it look...!
I've always used Trace quite a lot and so far it seems to be a big step backwards.
I have not dug into this much but what I did do didn't impress anyone.
