CorelDRAW graphics suite 2024 v25 work slow, when importing images and files to a new document
Is there a solution to this problem. Can CorelDRAW Team confirm or even see if their is a known issue one can solve this with?
I am trying to help a client who also uses Coreldraw, like myself.
I use version 2021 and my client uses version 2024.
And, its the client who experiences the problem with importing assets/content text, png, jpeg, tiff, eps, cdr and so forth, into a new document in CorelDRAW 2024, windows 11.
When they do this, all files imported to the coreldraw document are very slow to work with. And it becomes very slow to do what they managed to do with earlier versions of CorelDRAW.
For instance, simply moving around image files in the new document, working area in CorelDRAW almost stalled CorelDRAW, or just making it all to move more in slow motion - ish.
ATTENTION - workaround solution
RESULT: CorelDRAW works much better.
I remember several versions back when I was beta testing myself, CorelDRAW that this could be a problem, when using an English language version of CorelDRAW on a windows computer with another language, like Swedish. It often shown to be related to "special signs" that is "special letters" like Swedish Å, Ä, Ö and so forth. Letters basically that wasnt part of the English alphabet.
Can I assume that this includes raster images by themselves? Or does this happen only with content created by Draw with fonts?
I remember having this issue myself, when I beta tested versions up until 2020? It was related I learned to special letters (foreign language version to english) and folder within folders). But then I worked on my own computer with folders within folders and special letter signs. But this just add another lever of annoyance - with problem of importing file formats , raster and vectors, from a company server to a local computer. There are no problems with the same files, jpegs and such, when copy & paste from server folder to a local folder.
Stefan, I've reread your post and slept on this. As it appears that the problem is happening not only when your client imports content but (and I'm assuming this) when their working file resides on their network. Is that correct?
I've assumed this because you had them move the imported files to the local machine but it was not mentioned if they saved the working file to the local machine.
Network configurations can vary significantly so troubleshooting can be time consuming.
The way CorelDRAW functions by default, ( embedding images and content ) once the file has been saved, reduces network traffic between the local workstation and the server even if the working file remains on the server, except for font storage and CorelDRAW's backup, not an operating system backup.
However reasonable functionality generally requires traditional network configurations, I have found that CorelDRAW has worked best with a dedicated server, not running aWindows Sever operating system but running Windows Pro with a good Gigabyte network card in a peer to peer configuration limited to 10 and less users.
With that said, the varied configurations in the networks play a significant part. This is where geographic location plays a huge roll, my advice is based on my U.S. experience cost wise.
To reduce costs many users of CorelDRAW and photographers, mostly Mac and Adobe users, use a sever and expand server storage with external USB drives or NAS devices. Some even implement cloud storage which in my opinion is disastrous for complex files.
This complicates the situation and almost always reduces server to workstation transfer speeds, especially in a negative way if cloud storage is used
You did not mention if this client only experienced this issue after they updated to 2024. If that is the case my question would be what was their previous version of Draw.

Hi David, Excellent respons as useal. Short answer: Yes, only experienced this after upgrading to 2024.
Ps. They upgraded a month ago 5 different computers & CDRAW licenses of which some where 3 were version 2017 and two where 2021. Upgraded all machines to the latest 2025 (which is 2024). So, yes, they have never had this issue before. And Veronica, in this case at the sign-making company, have used CorelDRAW since the 90´s, beginning of 2000.
Well, that's complicated! Since they were running 2017 and 2021 and had no issues before the upgrade, I'm betting that this is something that Corel should be brought into the loop on. They would need very specific information on how the network is configured as well as the client's workflow.
My only thought is this, was it version 2021 or was it 2021.5? Those of us who were on the upgrade protection plane years ago got the 2021.5 version and there was significant difference between 2021 and 2021.5.

I dont know which exakt versions of 2017, 2021 they had up until a month ago. They payed a company to install Coreldraw. I remember- being a reference and support via phone and email - that I stressed install of all Patches/updates. And I did the same this time.
The other issue and fact, is that my client, owner of the company, stress that either his employee can work like with previous Coreldraw version with the new versions, or he will simply take back annonser computer and use the older, previous versions. He mist probably won't spend too much time with server and cloud etcetera settings. He already said that this specific employee, an important designer, sign maker, have lost important days of work.
Let say he is not happy with how Coreldraw is set up to work these days.
Stefan, unfortunately Corels chosen path since 2018 has made supporting users excruciatingly painful. There are simply way to many versions spread out among too wide a user and output base along with poor choices made by Corel creating so many issues.
For example the 2021.5 version which was a great improvement over the 2021 version I believe was only available to users who had purchased the upgrade protection package.
A look at this forum will show users from V8 to 2024, SE, subscription versions, stand alone versions that can exist in various states of upgrade availability. The reality is that depending on where we are in the release cycle the only way to have updated software is to use the subscription version and it's called 2024 but it is version 25!
If someone asks me a question I have to now ask so many questions that when they can't answer you can easily see the frustration in the users face. Then when you scroll through the help menu and show them that 2023 means nothing because there are at least 3 versions of 2023 and that they bought the wrong one and now they're pissed at Corel and me.
From the introduction of the Corel Font Manager to the release of 2019 I lost every one of my corporate architectural clients that I had built up from version 8.
By that time I was in negotiations to sell off my major interests and start a semi-retirement status which is where I'm at now. I only do very large projects, archival image editing as the profit margins are great for little work and I do my own amatuer photography.
So no loss for me, not needing the money and at 69 years old I don't have to care, however Corel has a great deal of work to do.
My association with Corel has now sullied my personal life, my wife's friend has a husband that has a little sign/graphics business that's luckily supported by his successful wife. So my wife ask if I'd help him with CorelDRAW, I reluctantly said yes.
Lucky for me that my wife's friend is successful because she has what it takes to be a business woman. I did my evaluation and found that the guy for one thing, wanting to save money bought the wrong version of Draw. This was not entirely Corels fault but they profiteer selling a dysfunctional version hurting the less than proficient user.
A week later my wife's friend corners me and ask for an honest opinion. I told her that I had spent 10 hours at her husbands company, that my hourly rate was $150 but as a favor from my wife to her it was free of charge. She ask for and I gave her a verbal report. She showed her true colors by telling my wife that I was a great help and did a great job, her husband's business has since closed and he creates web art for someone.
Coreldraw works for me mainly because of me, but I'm glad I'm 69 and semi-retired as the path of using it to be successful at business is far more difficult than it was when I bought version 3.
