How do I remove the "X" remove frame in 2020?
Are you referring to empty PowerClip frames?
If you want to change an object so that it is no longer a PowerClip frame, then you can right-click on it, then use Frame Type > Remove Frame from the context menu:
If you don't want to see the "X lines" - even when an object IS a PowerClip frame - then you can change the settings:
