Suspicious Corel Email

Hello,

has anyone recieved this suspicous email, come from Corel@email5-corel.com

------------------------------Dear Customer,

At Corel, we strive to be transparent with our customers and to provide a safe and secure experience, which is why we’re sending this email. We were recently made aware that specialized security research tools could be used to access certain data on one of our servers.

We immediately launched an investigation and blocked such access on the same day we were alerted. We also engaged outside security experts to further investigate this matter.

Based on our investigation, we believe that your email address may have been accessible to a security researcher. No payment, financial, or other information that by itself could be used to identify you was accessible. We have found no evidence that any person other than the researcher may have accessed your information.

We note that in general, being aware of who you’re receiving emails from, periodically changing passwords, and not reusing the same password across sites, can help keep you safe online.

Thank you for being a Corel customer. We truly value our relationship with you.

If you have questions, please visit https://www.corel.com/en/contact-us/ to contact us.

Sincerely,
Corel Corporation

  • Why it's "suspicious" for you?

I see it very simple, it is only a warning and asks that as a precaution you change your password, but it does not ask you to share it or inform anyone. It is something confidential that you can do at any time if you wish. In any case, it is good that you inform us, to take action in case you notice any strange activity. It shows the transparency and reliability of the company, instead of hiding what could be a security risk
