Changing text into a shape

I've seen a lot of discussion regarding shaping text around a shape (like a circle). What I can't seem to find is how to make the text into a shape such as this:

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

This is just an example - I'd also like to do diamonds, stars, etc.

    Just go the Interactive Envelope tool on the tool box, or press Cnt+F7 and choose preset with the text selected, u can also fit it into the custom shapes too
