Please help me!

Working in the programm Coreldraw X4 I created and saved file size 2,1 Gb.

How can open it?

It is really important for me!

Please help me! Thank you!

  • Hi Liss,

There are many people coming up in these forums to ask about this exact same issue, it's not a wise idea to create such a huge size file coreldraw. You should have split your file in more of manageable size files like not more than 100 mb which is still too big IMO. Your backup file would be corrupted too, the only thing you can do is look for your file in a temporary folder %temp% unless you've changed that in the options.

You should be brave and ready to face the fact that you'll have to redo whatever you had done in that dead file.

    • Hi Aleem Ashraf!

File is not corrupted yet!!! 100%

Coreldraw cannot open file more than 2 Gb!!!

Are there any  other programms that can open this file? Or path for coreldraw?  temp & backup too 2,1 Gb!

      • CorelDRAW is a 32-bits software. Windows doesn't allows more than 2 Gb of RAM for each 32-bits programs. Also, it requires a lot of temp files and the use of almost of the virtual memory disk.

First of all, try to clean your disk and memory. Use a software such as Ccleaner (you can download it for free, from ccleaner.com) in order to delete all your temp files and unused files. Search for a file called "backup of..." or "autobackup of..." your file name. If you can open and try to open it.

The question is why do you have so big file. Since vector objects are allways small, surely the problem is the use of a too much images with very high resolution. If you use the correct resolution according the output, your file will be very small.

          • Thanks for the answer!
The matter is that I create in CorelDRAW the book! It huge more than 100 pages! Has set raster images and the vector drawing!
To release memory does not help! I even tried to open it on 64 bits to the car, but too have not helped, as the program of 32 bits!

Can in future CorelDRAW will make 64 bits and I then I can open a file!
Anew it will be very difficult to do all and it is almost impossible (((

I have made over a hundred books pages and never had that size. If you use 300 dpi CMYK images at real size is almost IMPOSIBLE to have a 2Gb file size with only 100 pages. And , if it's a book, you can divide the pages on chapters and merge all when print or publish as PDF (open all the documents and choose "documents" instead "actual document" only)

Ask Microsoft if in the future Windows will allows more than 2 Gb for each program. Now the limit is for Windows. btw if you could make the document should being able to open, the original or the backup, if you clean the system should be able to open it.

Allways use 300 dpi CMYK images at real size for high quality printing. If you have big size file, when reduce it the resolution increases in the same proportion. Resample or Convert to bitmap (using 300 dpi - CMYK and apply ICC profile)

              • At me bad English! I Russian!

Try to create a file more than 2 гигабайт! (Take any photo and in Сorel it Bitmaps - convert to Bitmap... 1200 dpi create two identical pages and keep ех!) to turn out the huge file *.cdr and now try to open it! врядли you will manage to open it!

And about that as I did such pages! So at me on one page was till 10-15 raster images on 400 or more dpi. It is necessary for me then to take these images for the new book or other work! As these images already processed and it is correct рассположены on sheet!

As it is possible to disturb Microsoft that they have created in the improvement future allowing to open such file! Or that they have made updating or patch CorelDRAW?
