Hey guys, new here but long time Corel Draw user. I started with Corel 4. Not sure what your guy's applications are, but I use Corel for my Laser Engraving business.
Anyway, I recently bought a new Mac laptop and I love it. When Im out of town I can update and play around with my website, etc... But I stink at Photoshop and Illustrator and just feels weird to me. I rummaged through my old discs and found Corel 11 and was able to install it on my Mac, but Id really like to have X4 on there for some of the newer features I use..
anyone know of a way to install on Mac without bootcamp or parallels? Any word on maybe X5 being Mac or anything like this?

No way I know of...a clever tech guy might be able to get it working... some combination of hardware and software modification. Our tech guy said he modified a MAC somehow to make it boot Windows. I doubt it'd be worth it though.
Probably easier and more cost effective to use BootCamp, Parallels, or VMWare.
I've used CorelDRAW since Version 2 and currently use X3 on a BootCamp-XP driven MacBook Pro 17" as well as other Macs using BootCamp... works great.
Use X4 on an iMac using the latest BootCamp designed for Leopard and VISTA Home Basic. I put off using VISTA until SP1 came out and a lot of the issues with the new OS got solved.
It's no big deal to switch back and forth between OS's... not that I use MAC software much anyway.
Does Macbook Pro 17" with windows (BOOTCAMP) and corel installed run well?
Someone with this experience can say something about?
Thank you very much
Flawlessly... equally as good as on a native Windows machine.
I have to bought a portable computer but i am little affraid because i had one HP and doens't run well :(
Here, you can read the personal experience of Gerard Metrailler, Director of Product Management of CorelDRAW

Since CorelDRAW is not a native Macintosh software, the best choice is to use it in a native operative system. The Mac OS is good, but if you install CorelDRAW in a Mac, with Windows, you don't have any advantadge for this. For example, if your Mac has 32 Gb of RAM, your OS X can use it but your Windows doesn't recognize this amount of memory.
HP is a good trademark, but not all models are good for Graphic Design. Most of them are created for home users, who only need to read mails or use any Office document. For example, some HP models uses Celeron processors, and this is not good for a great performance. And, also, sometimes the problem is the Windows settings, I see some computers with a lot of memory and disk but very slow, and other similar computer 4 times faster.
At work I use an Apple iMac (I-MAC 24) Desktop Mac with Bootcamp just because I need to use the Corel. It works well but if I want a laptop computer I stay in doubt in what I should invest.
Someone suggests a good machine?
I'm using X3 on a MacBook Pro 17" 1 GB RAM 2 GHz Intel BootCamp and Windows XP... I'll be putting X4 on it soon... I'm not expecting to have any issues. Use X4 on an iMac 24" (BootCamp-VISTA Basic) and on a Mac Pro desktop 2GHz (BootCamp-XP),,, no problems and I'm running X3 as well on the laptop and the MacPro desktop. That's why I think I'll be fine with X4 on the laptop... because my two other XP Macs work great with X3. Having said all that, there are some great native Windows laptops... I used X3 on an Acer for awhile... they're good afaik... but so are Gateway (owned by ACER now), HP, Toshiba, etc., etc. Just get them decked out enough to do the job easily for you... 2 or 3 GB RAM, nVidia graphics probably with a GB of video RAM probably... the gear is only half the story though... how you use it and execute your workflow is the other half... or somethin' like that.
Just more musings...
Thanks for the opinion.
