My post Why does Corel Draw Graphics Suite X5 feel more like beta software? explains everything im having an issue with X5. In an effort to log the issues with this software, Im asking that if your an X5 User and are having file corruption, crashes, freezes and other such fun stuff happening to you killing your time and money while in Draw or Photopaint, please post it here.
In order to keep it all clean and easy for someone at Corel to follow, please only list issues for X5 and not turn it into a discussion out of topic.
Please, there is no need to try to defend Corel here as Iv used Corel since version 4 (not X4), so thats a long time using it.
Hello,
I have got some problem with Corel Draw X5 Versions. When i type "Divehi", "Farsi", "Arabic", "Hebrew" using the windows default language(using language bar) with fonts it seems to be going left to right, but in x5 if i write on a text box it seems to be okay. but normally we cant write, because "Divehi", "Farsi", "Arabic", "Hebrew" these languages are written from right to left.
Maybe there is a Unicode Barrier in x5 that has to braked so that languages like yours and mine will be typed on CorelDraw. i use "fasyha thaana word processor" application named "Friend" wich enables language to be written smoothly in earlier versions but this aplication is not compatible with x5.
in Draw:
I was making a pretty basic diagram, used the star tool... I changed the colour of the fill and it crashed.
The message box just says "CorelDRAW(R) has stopped working Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."
... no error code or anything (that may have been helpful), just about an hour of work gone.
The colour pickers are still not fixed in Draw or PP... eg. the 3D cube pickers still don't allow you to drag your mouse around to pick a colour, and the selection can go outside the cube colour area on the right side.
In Draw, when you're working with a bitmap, and you're trying to get it precisely angled and resized etc... and then you notice it needs a bit of touch up... so you go Edit Bitmap... then it goes into PP (cool)... then you save the change to go back into Draw... BUT the image is rotated back to 0 degrees. I think the scaling is preserved, but it would be SO nice to have the angle preserved too. After spending time getting it just right, it's really painful knowing that your work will be undone just for the sake of a little change to the bitmap!

If the scaling is preserved, the angle is just one more number to remember about the image. I really hope they fix this one because it's a major workflow problem IMO. I know I'm preaching to the choir... if the products are supposed to be well integrated... draw should remember what it was doing just before handing control over to PP. Less work for us is better of course.
In Draw
I make a whatever (box), fountain fill it, then apply transparency using the lens docker... the fill reverts back to uniform fill but the transparency does work.
I'm trying to get uniform transparency, but it's not working.
Also, it would be great to be able to use the lens (docker) transparency on bitmaps that are being used in Draw.
I've found out this can be done using the transparency tool, but I still think the lens transparency method should work.
If you use the transparency tool, then change it to uniform, it will work the way the lens docker works... except it actually works. Maybe the lens docker should be removed.
It would be great if the order of the outline and fill tabs in the Object Properties didn't change order. I can't imagine why you'd want them to change order. I think fill & outline should always be the first 2 if possible. Here's a shot of fill being the 4th tab (why?).
Another usability bug:
When you lay down a rectangle, then change the fill (or outline) via the Object Properties docker, and then want to change to the picker tool to adjust the size/rotation/whatever... it doesn't work to hit F4 (I also have it hotkeyed to 'Q', and that doesn't respond either). I have to click off the rectangle first before F4 will respond.
However, if you don't alter the fill or outline first, F4 does work to get to the picker tool.
There are probably lots of other combinations that won't work in this same way... elipse and change outline, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
