I made a pattern in CorelDraw X5 using Text. Now I want to repeat the pattern again & again to see how it looks in a all-over printed design?
In the Pattern Fill tool, I am not getting any option to define my pattern as a vector. However, if I can save it as Bitmap, then I can load it for pattern fill. This is what I dont want, as I want my pattern to be in Vector form so that I can outright edit them (e.g. In a series of blue pattern, I may color one repeat in Red).
Can any of the Corel Guys have any solution?
Hi,
You can create a pattern fill by choosing Tools -> Create -> Pattern Fill...
Select type of fill you want to create... (In your case preferably High resolution 2-Color fill)
And then select the area you want to create pattern fill of by marquee select;
A new pattern will be added at the end of 2-color pattern fill;
You can now use this as a 2-color fill in any of your object...

One limitation is that CorelDRAW's pattern fills don't support transparency.
For more design possibilities, learn about the commercial Superfill macro with this video.

Unless you use a pattern fill via the Interactive Transparency Tool. You select your object, click on the Interactive Transparency Tool and then select Pattern Fill from the Property Bar as the fill type. Select your fill and the object will take on transparency based on the pattern. Here is an example:
The rectangle which has the transparency pattern applied to it originally had no fill, so the dots in the pattern took on black from the pattern fill colour. Had the rectangle been filled with red originally the dots would now appear red. This is not important as we can still change the colour of the dots at any time by clicking on a colour from the colour palette.
Best regards,

What I mean: In CorelDRAW there's no allowance for users to have full color pattern fills or bitmap fills that have pre-defined transparent areas. (alpha chan. on bitmaps, or hollow areas on full color vector patterns). The Superfill macro solves this problem. This is important because patterns of either type can bypass Corel's Lenses and transparency tool altogether.
Hi Jeff,
I was only trying to come up with a workaround for the lack of a proper tool. The Superfill macro sounds awesome and is clearly designed for the job.
